About

OLIO is a free app that connects neighbours with each other & with local shops so that surplus food can be shared, not thrown away. To use the app, upload a photo of your surplus food or browse nearby listings, then arrange pick at home, the store, an OLIO Drop Box or another convenient location.

Items frequently found on the app include food nearing its use-by date from shops, cafes and markets; spare vegetables from the allotment; cakes from an amateur baker; or groceries from household fridges when people go away, move home or go on a diet. There is also a non-food section for household items.

OLIO has over 100,000 users, and its growth has been powered by our over 7,000 volunteers who not only spread the word about OLIO in their local community, but also collect unsold surplus food from local shops to share with the community via the OLIO app.
