Our shining stars
We’re proud of our staff. That is why each month we’ll shine a light on one of them, asking them to share their journey.
Lucy Towle joined us in August 2014 as a customer service assistant. 18 months on, she’s managing our flagship store in St Werburghs, responsible for 20 staff, and over 1000 product lines.
“I originally worked in the Whiteladies Road store, and was pretty quickly promoted to supervisor. When the new store opened (in June 2016) I worked there, firstly as a supervisor, and soon covering Gordon as store manager. It’s early days for me at St Werburghs, but so far, it’s been great.”
What’s the key thing you’ve learned about yourself?
That I’m confident enough to use my initiative, to discuss, make decisions … or mistakes!
What do you like about working at Better Food?
I’ve always been made to feel empowered in my role. There’s always room for improvement, and there’s freedom to have input in all areas of the company.
Everyone is working as a team to improve, grow and promote our message. There’s so much support and energy.
What would you say to someone thinking of working here?
Better Food is a community of people working to promote and trade fairly with small, local businesses, fresh organic produce and a more sustainable way of life. Everyone is so passionate about our ethos – you will be nurtured!
