5 Reasons we love CBD oil

We’re delighted to present this blog from Amma Life, who supply us with fantastic quality CBD oil. To understand more about it, and whether it might benefit you or your friends or family, read on …

1. CBD Is Legal, Officially Safe And Non-Toxic

Many people new to hemp or legal cannabis sativa worry about the legality of CBD and the safety profile of CBD supplements. In the EU and UK, CBD oil products are legal when the THC content is below 0.2%. In NOvember 2017, the World Health Organisation (WHO) Expert Committee on Drug Dependence published a report on CBD bringing together the latest scientific evidence and contributions from 57 member states.

The report said, “CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential” and “is generally well tolerated with a good safety profile.” It goes on to state that “there is no evidence of recreational use of CBD or any public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.” This confirms what we already know that CBD is safe, non-toxic and non-addictive.

The WHO report focuses on the molecule CBD (Cannabidiol) rather than whole plant CBD oils, which will be examined at a later date. However, it’s great news for the CBD community and we look forward to reading their findings on full spectrum CBD oils when they are released.

2. CBD Oil Helps To Maintain Balanced Health

One of the reasons we love CBD is because it activates multiple molecular pathways in our body. Scientists are only now understanding how CBD works as for many years they assumed it was an inactive molecule due to its lack of psychoactivity. So far, they know CBD stimulates receptors related to mood, pain, inflammation and cell growth. Interestingly, CBD supports the endocannabinoid system – the body’s internal regulatory system. It does this by blocking the enzyme responsible for breaking down the bliss molecule anandamide, meaning that there are more natural endocannabinoids in our bodies for longer.

This may explain why CBD is thought to have a balancing effect on our body and mind, allowing us to create the perfect conditions for optimum health.

3. CBD Comes From Hemp

While we love CBD, we totally adore hemp. Otherwise known as legal cannabis sativa, hemp was the first crop to be cultivated by humankind 10,000 years ago. Hemp is a durable source of fibre, is extremely nutritious, and its use as medicine dates as far back as 2737 BCE when it was taken by the Chinese Emperor Shen-Nung for pain relief.

Hemp can also clean contaminated earth after environmental disasters thanks to its ability to remove pollutants from soil. This is why it’s vitally important to ensure your hemp products come from organic, pure sources. Otherwise you could be taking a health supplement full of nasty chemicals.

Hemp also contains over 100 special compounds called cannabinoids, with CBD being the most abundant. Scientists now know that these cannabinoids are responsible for some of the biological effects in the body when hemp is consumed. That’s why Amma Life uses state of the art extraction methods to preserve the full spectrum of cannabinoids and other active molecules like terpenes and flavonoids.

4. CBD Can Be Safely Taken By People Of All Ages

Because of CBD’s excellent safety profile with very few recorded side effects, CBD oil can be taken by people of all ages. From children to the elderly, CBD oil is becoming a popular nutritional supplement. It is currently estimated that over 250,000 people in the UK take CBD with numbers doubling in the last 12 months. So while we can’t make any comments about any specific health benefits, the figures speak for themselves, as approximately 1000 Brits every month buy CBD oil for the first time.

Did you know that many pet owners are administering CBD oil to their pets? That’s because just like us, animals also have an endocannabinoid system. Although you should consult with your vet before giving CBD to your furry friend.

5. CBD Works Better Surrounded By Its Friends

CBD is a sociable molecule and is much happier when hanging out with other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. How can a molecule be happy, you might ask? What we’re talking about here is the special synergy between all the molecules in the plant, whereby the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It’s been termed the entourage effect, and that’s why you’ll see the term whole plant CBD extract on Amma Life’s CBD health supplements. This means that as well as CBD, whole plant CBD oil (and CBD paste) will contain the full spectrum of cannabinoids and other active compounds. THC can only be found in trace amounts (less than 0.2%) to stay within the legal limit. A happy CBD molecule, means a happy you!
