What to buy at Better Food: Spelt cereals, flours and cooking ingredients.
Since 2004, Roger Saul has been championing the return of spelt to Sharpham Park. The history of spelt in the area surrounding the farm goes back millennia to the Bronze and Iron Ages, and now grows on the site once again under the highest organic standards. The farm has its own dedicated spelt mill, milling by traditional methods to protect the grain’s natural germ oils and produce the finest spelt flour available. Their distinctive Pearled Spelt is produced by bouncing spelt over five rotating stones, leaving a grain ideal for soups, stews and risottos.
Mission and values: Sharpham Park are proud the be the champions of British spelt, grown and processed in a way that protects the nutritional qualities of the grain, as well as the land and the wildlife of this ancient parkland.
