Wye Coppice
Based in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, Wye Coppice are a community interest company dedicated to restoring traditional coppiced woodland management and producing sustainable woodland products.
Their charcoal is made from locally harvested broadleaf woodlands using traditional coppicing methods – a centuries-old practice that encourages biodiversity, woodland regeneration, and long-term sustainable timber production. Unlike much of the imported charcoal found in supermarkets, Wye Coppice charcoal is free from additives, petrochemicals, tropical deforestation, and the long transport miles associated with global supply chains.
By actively managing neglected woodlands, Wye Coppice help create healthier habitats for wildlife, support rural skills and employment, and bring value back to local forests. Alongside charcoal production, they also run woodland management projects, biodiversity work, training courses, and community education programmes across the region.
Their charcoal is a brilliant example of how local, low-impact production can support both people and nature – turning woodland restoration into something practical, useful, and genuinely sustainable
