Sole of Discretion
What to buy at Better Food: Sustainably sourced fish, from small-scale fishing boats, traceable all the way back to the boat.
Sole of Discretion was created in answer to a problem: as conscientious shoppers, how can we continue to eat fish without the nagging concern that our choices are leading to the depletion of our oceans and the destruction of precious and vulnerable ecosystems?
By sourcing fish exclusively from small-scale boats using low-impact fishing methods, and ensuring that every fish is traceable back to the boat, Sole do the hard work of finding fish that is caught in sustainable quantities and in a way that limits damage to the marine environment.
The fish you can enjoy from Sole of Discretion is seasonally caught, blast frozen to ensure freshness to shelf and continued availability no matter the weather, and every catch receives a fair price. This means that their fishers can catch an array of species, taking the pressure of the ‘favourite five’, and giving shoppers the chance to try everything that the UK seas have to offer.
Mission and values: Sole of Discretion are committed to procuring fish and shellfish that have been caught with as little damage to the marine environment as possible, have contributed to the livelihood of small-scale fishers and their communities, and to get these high quality and delicious fish to shoppers in search of ethically-sourced fish.
