Streets to Kitchen November Update
As the cohort of students have got to know each other better over the weeks, the social aspects of the Streets to Kitchen course have come to the fore, with one participant observing:
“I needed someone to talk to as well as a cooking lesson.”
The array of skills learnt towards the ASDAN vocational qualification continued to be varied, and by the end of the month a couple of students had gathered enough skills to apply for the qualification – a first for any of the participants and a real victory for Streets to Kitchen as a project!
Dishes this month included traditional winter favourites such as lentil cottage pie, Dorset apple cake and mince pies, as well as more exotic Mexican rice and burritos.
Our favourite comments from this month:
“It’s amazing what we can produce as a team.”
“Cooking is like art: Creative & Rewarding.”
“I cooked the bolognese from the recipe booklet at home last week and shared it with my mum.”
